It’s Time To Get Your Roof FORTIFIED!
What Is The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program?
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program from the Louisiana Department of Insurance provides a set of roof reinforcement standards developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety [IBHS] and implemented through their related program Fortified Home.
The IBHS Fortified Homes program offers Louisiana homeowners guidelines on how to strengthen their roofs to better withstand hurricane-force winds, a verification framework, and rewards them with lower homeowner’s insurance premiums.

How Does The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program Work?
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program/IBHS Fortified Homes program is essentially a three-step process that includes working with an approved Fortify Evaluator, completing the required home improvements, and verification and certification. Depending on the level of fortification you choose, this process can take more or less time.
Evaluation
Your home will go through an initial evaluation by an approved Fortify Evaluator. During this evaluation, you will be presented with options on what level of fortification you want to achieve and the required improvements to meet the corresponding criteria.
Fortification
You complete the required improvements to achieve your chosen fortification level. In almost every case, spray foam insulation must be installed on all of the seams in the roof deck and rafters. Spray foam is the water-tight “glue” that holds it all together.
Savings
After you complete your home improvements, your Fortify Evaluator will certify your home and file the required paperwork, and you can contact your insurance company for significant discounts on the wind coverage of your insurance policy.
